A Quick Game? Please

Hey crafters! I am so excited to share this layout I made last night!!!

I purchase (shhh don't tell the hubs) an amazing Winter Wonderland Kit from Nikki Sivils a few weeks ago and I've been oohing and aahing over it since its arrival.

Let me first tell you all that I have realized there is NOTHING WRONG with buying tons of craft supplies. BUT there is PLENTY WRONG with just looking at it on the shelves and not using it. So my new "ah-ha" has been USE IT. ;) Yes use it up. That's what it is there for.

SO here we go...

So basically I just wanted to use Dan The Record Man and had to create this layout in order to do that lol. The line comes with these creams, gray, green and orange and the B sides are so pretty. I'm not the biggest fan of green or orange so I used the B side primarily.

First thing I did was created the title. I am constantly asking my kids to play games with me. This one is normally the one who says, "yeah sure mom lets play" ah he makes my heart happy! lol. So I typed out the title in the silhouette designers studio using Carbon Block and then I created a basic rectangle shape. I welded the two together to create the title into one piece. Although when I did this the G and the Q didn't really look like a G or a Q so I cut those out individually as well and layered them atop the title. It makes it pop and I love the dimension it has. Then I found some really cute Jenni Bowlin Mini Chalkboard Alphas on my peg board and put them to good use to create "please". I believe they are a very dark navy blue but they matched nonetheless.

The arrows were cut in vellum and  gray square pattern paper. They were then just layered on top of each other in a messy way. I stapled the two together with my tiny attacher. LOVE THAT THING!

The stars are cut from a studio calico exclusive from their cut it out class. In descending order there is a Martha Stewart scalloped circle punched in cream from American Crafts paper. And a 1 3/8 circle punched out of black American Crafts paper. I really wanted the embellishments to coincide with the game pieces from backgammon board so I made sure they were circular and then added the stars. My friend Kristi and I do personal challenges every once in a while and our challenge this time around was to use a punch or multiples. ;)

I added some black and cream washi tape and layered it all together. Oh and those brads are from Stampin' Up! BUT I don't like brads per se. It's primarily user error but I don't always punch the hole right where I need to and I end up with an off looking brad somewhere on my page. SOOOO, I took my jewelry wire cutters and cut off the pointed pieces of the brad. Then I used some glossy accents to adhere the brad tops to the area I wanted them to be in. ;)

Well that's all she wrote for now! Hope you all are having a great Friday and have a happy weekend!

  1. Raven this is fabulous!! I had to laugh because I do just that! I buy things but I love them so much I hate to use them. I just had an ah ha moment yesterday and used some of my "good" paper.

  2. Funny thing is that the paper was from a 2007 Cosmo cricket line!!
