5 De Mayo Blog Hop

Bienvenida-Welcome
If you just got here from Patty's fabulous Blog then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon my blog you may want to start at the beginning over at Abby's!
Today I couldn't be more excited to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with you all. I would post in Spanish but I cant lol so I wont. Thank you so much Abby for asking me to be a part of this wonderful celebration.

And to celebrate this joyous day I have a project to share with you all.

I made a super simple scrapbook page for our adventure tonight but I haven't taken the pictures yet lol. The cut file was made on inkscape.org using a coloring book page. I kept with the flag colors of Mexico Green white and red. LOVE that color combination too btw. Let me know what you all think. I like its simplicity.

Here is some history on Cinco De Mayo.
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States. While Cinco de Mayo sees limited significance in Mexico itself, the date is observed nationwide mostly in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. "Cinco de Mayo is not a Mexican holiday—it is an American Civil War holiday, created spontaneously by Mexicans and Latinos living in California who supported the fragile cause of defending freedom and democracy during the first years of that bloody war between the states." Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day, the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.

As a kid Cinco De Mayo was always a big day! We would dress up and make big Mexican flowers and wear them in our hair and on our clothes. We would perform special dances The Hat Dance being my favorite. So Cinco De Mayo holds a special place in my heart!

Here is the line up in case you get lost along the way.

Also, what would a hop be without some candy....

OKay so let me share how I made this and what it is. lol. With all the talk of sweets amongst the dt I was hungry. AND that made me think about my girls, they look to cook. So because of this I decided to make them a cookbook. They LOVED it!!!!!! So it was made out of one brown paper bag. I cut it down to 10" and then scored it at 5". I then just decorated it. I left the flaps open and as you can see I put recipe cards in there. :)

I really want to share what I used...
